The reason LinkedIn is dying (should you switch platforms?)
Everyone is suffering from LinkedIn fatigue and the platform is getting stale.
Everyone I talk to is suffering from LinkedIn fatigue.
Probably because 85% of posts are AI-slop. But more importantly, the platform seems to have completely lost touch with its users.
I've been wondering to myself, "why was LinkedIn so much fun back in 2022? what has changed?"
Obvious problems:
1. Engagement pods
2. AI-written content
3. Push for vertical video (wtf? It's not TikTok)
4. Automations are obvious, excessive, and are rarely reported
5. Fluffy, generic content is prioritized - specialists get suppressed
What's most disappointing is how bland my feed has become.
When I scroll through X (Twitter), I come across indie hackers vibe coding new tech, designers testing new UIs, marketers dropping absolute fuego 🔥 lead magnets, agency owners showing illegal hacks for growth.
Just a totally different space.
I've been so bullish about LinkedIn since I started. And I'm starting to wonder if it was a mistake.
The most successful content over here is quite boring.
It's always the same hook: "When I was a VP of Marketing at Gong, we did blah blah blah." Or corporate photos from SaaStr. Or elementary level sales-training guides that get used as lead magnets.
I'd be lying if I said these don't work.
I've written for over 25 LinkedIn influencers.
These all work a little too well... even if they are soul-sucking hacks.
Serious question:
Do ANY of you still enjoy being here? Or has it become an evil necessity?
